Ministry: Central BSU
Campus: University of Central Missouri (UCM)
Role: Campus Missionary
Mission Statement:
The Baptist Student Union at UCM is a Christ-centered community where students connect, grow in their faith, and serve together. It’s a home away from home where students grow in faith, build friendships, and serve together. Our mission is to transform our campus with the Gospel and love of Jesus.
Tell us about your journey to becoming a Campus Missionary:
After being involved in the BSU during college, I did a two-year apprenticeship with Central BSU. Following that apprenticeship, I moved to Kansas City to serve as a Campus Missionary at the University of Missouri-Kansas City with Collegiate Impact for two-and-a-half years. At the end of 2024, God opened the door for me to return to my alma mater to lead the ministry that was so impactful in my own life.
What do you love about doing ministry on your campus?
I love the diversity of UCM! UCM ranks as the second biggest international graduate student program in the US (’23-’24 Open Doors Annual Report). Students from Missouri and students from abroad are seeking the same thing: an answer for the world’s brokenness. I love watching God change students’ lives by perfectly answering sin and brokenness!
Tell us about yourself and your family:
My wife Meraiah and I have been married for three years. We welcomed our first child in June of 2024.
What do you hope to see happen on your campus/within your ministry in the next few years?
I LOVE seeing people repent and follow Jesus! Through the community of the BSU, I hope UCM students will experience the love of Jesus through the ordinary means of God’s grace in friendship. I often pray we will be a people who are known by our love.
What are some of the things your ministry does?
We serve a free dinner at the BSU building every Tuesday at 6pm followed by small group Bible studies at 7pm at locations around campus. Every Thursday, we alternate Worship and Fellowship nights at the BSU at 6pm. We have various other opportunities for students to serve, grow, go on mission trips, and be raised up as leaders.
