Summer Missionary 2023

Sophia Rapini

Where are you serving this summer, and who is your mentor?
Redemtion Ranch in Winfield, MO, with Jason Zellmer
How did you first encounter Jesus Christ, and how has His lordship continued to change your life?
I grew up in a Christian home, so I knew who Jesus was from a very young age. Because of this, I was able to give my life to Jesus when I was 7. Since then I have seen Jesus change my life. I have the desire to share the gospel, lead a Christian life (life according to God/ the gospel), and obey God. The biggest thing my walk with Jesus has lead to was showing me how I need God, I am dependent on Him, not on myself.
What does the church mean to you?
The church is a group/meeting of believers to worship God, hear the gospel, and to grow to know, love and follow Jesus by His grace.
As a student, how have you shared – and are currently sharing – your faith with others?
I’ve shared my faith by leading a Christian life and being a Christian as God wants me to be. Showing an example of Christ’s work in my life. I have also shared the gospel with people at school, work, and on the swim team (my sport).
What do you feel is your vocational call (future career), and how do you anticipate sharing your faith through that call?
Graphic Design, God has given me the gift of being an artist and having an artistic eye. In this career, I could create graphics and illustrations for churches, which is something I do want to do.
Why do you want to be a summer missionary?
To me, missions are when believers go and share the gospel with a group that doesn’t know the gospel or to teach a group that does know the gospel and are already believers. I thought it would be a good opportunity to gain some more experience teaching the gospel. I also want to be a role model, friend, example for the girls that are younger than me. I want to be an example of what being a Christian means and I want to share the gospel with them too.
