Summer Missionary 2023

Joshua Haywood

Where do you currently attend school? Murray State University in Kentucky
Where are you serving this summer, and who is your mentor?
Black River Baptist Association with Paul Reams
How did you first encounter Jesus Christ, and how has His lordship continued to change your life?
When I was little, my brother started going to church. He convinced me to start going because he told me how much it was changing his life, so I just had to be a part of that. Continuing His lordship has been changing me for the better. It really has opened my eyes to what the Lord can truly do.
What does the church mean to you?
Church has given me a group of people that I can trust and talk to whenever something in my life is going wrong. It is a sense of family and community.
As a student, how have you shared – and are currently sharing – your faith with others?
At my university I am currently involved with the Baptist campus ministry and we go around and do fellowship events and outreach 1-2 times a week.
What do you feel is your vocational call (future career), and how do you anticipate sharing your faith through that call?
Right now I plan to go into the conservation law enforcement field. I plan to share me knowledge and faith with anyone who stays around to hear it.
Why do you want to be a summer missionary?
Spreading the Word of the Lord is what this is to me. For a while now I’ve been wanting to get out and do missionary work and spread His Word to the youth.
