Ministry: D-Groups at Southwest Baptist University
Role: Campus Staff
Mission Statement:
SBU D-Groups are student-led small groups that meet weekly to help one another grow in their faith, build meaningful community, and become servant-leaders who make a Christ-centered impact.
Tell us about your journey to becoming a Campus Missionary:
I went to SBU from 2017-2021 and graduated with an emphasis in youth ministry. I was a youth pastor in Arkansas for the last three years. I left the position to focus on my Master’s I am obtaining from Midwestern. Around March of 2025, my buddy, who is the Residence Life director at SBU, told me they were restructuring how they do res. Life at SBU and said they were opening a position that he believed would be great for me to be in. I am now the Associate Residence Life Director.
What do you love about doing ministry on your campus?
I love being so close to students here and being involved in even the smaller aspects of their lives. I also love being able to mentor and love on students in our leadership roles to help them grow in their own leadership.
Tell us about yourself and your family:
My father is a pastor at First Baptist Church in Arnold, MO. My mother has started work recently at Missouri Baptist University in a new position. My brother, who is 6 years younger than I, is a car mechanic and works in the St. Louis area.
What do you hope to see happen on your campus/within your ministry in the next few years?
I would love to continue to see our D-Groups grow. In two years, it would be awesome to see 200 students involved in it. We are also desiring to grow our own conference for students as we are changing it this year from just girls to one for all students.
What are some of the things your ministry does?
Students can connect through being involved in year-round discipleship groups, joining our conference and going to CrossCon with us, being involved in dorm bible studies, and reading groups held on campus.
