Chris Wilson
Missouri State University
Ministry: Baptist Student Union
Role: Campus Missionary
Mission Statement:
We are a family of servant missionaries commissioned by God into the world.
Tell us about your journey to becoming a Campus Missionary:
The Lord called me to college ministry in 2010. I had met Matt Kearns when I was in a ministry for 12 years. I called him which ended with a drive to Hannibal, MO to discuss being the campus missionary on Missouri State’s campus.
What do you love about doing ministry on your campus?
I love building relationships with students and faculty that result in students receiving and becoming like Christ. It’s even more rewarding when those students share this with others.
Tell us about yourself and your family:
I have been married to my wife Christen since January 1, 2005 and we have three kids; Ree, Isaiah, and Jude. I love to read books of many kinds. Favorite authors include: God, Bill Hull, Tim Keller, Nicholas Sparks, and Harlan Coban. I also love to camp and fish.
What do you hope to see happen on your campus/within your ministry in the next few years?
Our hope is to see students resist the temptation to be consumers and really embrace the call of the church as we see in Scripture. We hope that the result of this will unite campus ministries, better define the mission, and see many students experience life change spiritually.
What are some of the things your ministry does?
We gather on Thursday nights in Plaster Student Union (third floor) at 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get involved in a larger discussion. Our hope is that ultimately students will get involved in a small group. We also have a tremendous opportunity to serve our MSU football team as well as our MSU Pride Band (GO BEARS!!). Every year we take mission trips both domestic and internationally. We hope you will want to be a part of what God is doing here at MSU through the BSU!
