Ministry: Ozarks BSU
Mission Statement:
The mission of Ozarks BSU is to make disciples who make disciples, love God, and love others.
Tell us about your journey to becoming a Campus Missionary:
My wife and I both sensed a call to disciple college students while we were in college, but we were unsure what form that would take. While I was in my PhD program, I received a call from a friend who led the BSU at College of the Ozarks and asked if we would like to take over when he moved in a couple weeks to Arkansas. In a matter of two weeks we had heard about the position, spoken with the local Baptist association and Missouri Baptist Convention leaders, accepted the position, moved in, and begun ministering to college students. Our first worship gathering as Campus Missionaries was on February 6, 2012, and we have led the ministry since.
What do you love about doing ministry on your campus?
We love living life alongside our students, inviting them into our home to be a part of our family. We also love worshiping with them, meeting with them, or any other way that we are with them.

Tell us about yourself and your family:
Kristin and I were married in June 2004. We have three children—Karis (7/21/2006), Anastacia (1/15/2008), and Aviel (5/6/2010). As a family, we enjoy playing games and watching movies. Kristin loves making things more beautiful, whether that is gardening or interior decorating. I love reading books—lots of books—everything from theology to biblical studies to history to fantasy and fiction. I also enjoy watching and playing sports.
What do you hope to see happen on your campus/within your ministry in the next few years?
In the next few years we hope to have more intentional training for future ministry, particularly small groups for training worship leaders and preachers, and providing them opportunities to develop these abilities in our worship gatherings. We ultimately want to see the students on our campus know and love Christ, grow in relationship with him and with others, and become Christians who fulfill the great commission in the context of the local church.
What are some of the things your ministry does?
Our main worship gathering, Gather, happens on Monday nights at 9pm. We have a leadership team as well as numerous varied opportunities to serve. We do 4-5 game nights each semester in which students, faculty, staff, and administration can get together outside of the classroom context for fun and fellowship. We also offer occasional conferences, opportunities for small groups, and a number of men’s and women’s ministry events and Acts of Kindness each semester. You can learn more about our ministry and how to get involved at our website (www.ozarksbsu.com).
