Ministry: The Lighthouse at Northwest
Mission Statement:
We strive to help students grow in their understanding of the incredible gospel of Jesus Christ so they can serve Him from Northwest Missouri State to the ends of the earth.
Tell us about your journey to becoming a Campus Missionary:
I grew up in a Christian home but didn’t begin walking with the Lord until I got connected to the BSU in college. It was there that I learned how to study the Word, serve in community and share Christ with others. As I grew during that experience, God changed my heart and gave me a passion to labor on the college campus.
What do you love about doing ministry on your campus?
I love seeing light bulbs come on for students as they grasp the love of Christ to a greater degree (Ephesians 3:17-19). As that happens, their love for Him grows and they long to serve Him and share Him with their friends, neighbors, classmates and professors. Then I just try not to get in the way as God does amazing things through their lives!

Tell us about yourself and your family:
I attended Northwest Missouri State, where I met my amazing wife, Karin. We were married in 1998 and have three wonderful kids – Meghan, Caleb and Allison. Maryville is home now, but I was born and raised in Kansas City and am a lifetime Chiefs and Royals fan. My favorite hobby is playing slow pitch softball, but I enjoy lots of outdoor activities and spending quality time with my family as well as our students.
What do you hope to see happen on your campus/within your ministry in the next few years?
I long to see a move of God that exceeds all expectations and defies explanation. In the meantime, I’m striving to raise up as many kingdom-minded laborers as possible.
What are some of the things your ministry does?
The Lighthouse is located close to campus and is a great place to connect with other students. We have a dinner every Monday at 6:15pm and RealLife, a worship gathering, every Thursday at 7pm. During the week there are student-led small groups that meet at various times and places to study the Word, pray together and encourage one another. Along with that there are many other activities to meet new people, serve God together and take the gospel to the Northwest campus.
