Ministry: Collegiate Impact
Mission Statement:
Challenge exists to glorify God by making disciples who make disciples.
Tell us about your journey to becoming a Campus Missionary:
I was discipled as a college student through the ministry of the Baptist Student Union at the University of Central Missouri. Upon graduation, I was invited to come on staff with LifeConnection Church—a church we planted in 2008 in Independence, MO led by my campus minister. Since we started, campus ministry has been part of my role at LifeConnection. I’ve been on campus at Blue River and Longview Community Colleges since 2008.
What do you love about doing ministry on your campus?
Students are at such a formative stage in their lives. I love being a part of God’s work to set them on a Christ-centered trajectory at such an early stage in their lives. It’s very exciting to see students doing ministry for the first time in their lives—learning to study the Bible for the first time, taking ownership of ministry to their peers for the first time, and leading their first Bible study.
Tell us about yourself and your family:
I have been married to Casey for 8 years and we have 2 girls, Campbell and Chloe. I am a pastor at LifeConnection Church in Independence, MO. I'm passionate about learning and reading. I enjoy the little things in life—a good meal, a cup of coffee, music, and an engaging movie or TV series.
What do you hope to see happen on your campus/within your ministry in the next few years?
I hope to see a thriving, reproducing, student-led ministry that outlasts me.
What are some of the things your ministry does?
Our ministry has a core team of student leaders who are taking ownership of ministry to their campus. We have multiple student-led Bible studies meeting weekly on campus. We also connect students to social gatherings, outreach efforts, mission trips, and conferences.
