Campus Ministry Prayer & Praises for September 2020

Each month, our Campus Missionaries fill out reports on how God is working in and through their ministries. These are requests from their August reports that they have asked us to share publicly. Please join us in praying for them in these ways throughout the month of September!

Scott Westfall, Missouri Valley College:

Please pray for us as we kick off the year. My hope is that we can engage more students with the gospel than e did last year. We plan to start 2 new small groups to disciple more effectively. Pray for those students leading those and for funds to be raised to pay for the food for those meeting nights. Pray that christ stays the center of all we do!

Kale Uzzle, University of Missouri St. Louis:

Pray for connections with new students in a completely virtual ministry context. Our school isn’t allowing anyone from off-campus or any public on-campus events. Pray for miraculous connections!

Kyle Rapinchuk, College of the Ozarks:

Pray that the changes we have made due to restrictions on campus are wise and bear good fruit.

Aaron Werner, Crowder College

Pray for my daughter, Sarah, in her first year of college and my daughter, Grace, in her last year of college. My 15-year-old son, Jake, as he is now home alone.

Heather Murray, Washington University

Two of our international wives girls just gave birth. Please pray for healthy recovery for the moms and a healthy start for the babies. Praise that one our Chinese post-docs was blessed with a job at a university in New York. His next steps have been a long uphill battle. He’s had many faith conversations and strongly leans on his Christian relationships, but is not yet a believer. Please pray for faith and understanding in him.

Chris Wilson, Missouri State University

Pray that we can connect with students through this season of uncertainty. Pray that our leaders would step up even more in one on one conversations.

Levi Springfield, Missouri State University:

We have two female students that are having to quarantine. Prayers for them as they struggle with school and financial endeavors.

Reese Hammond, Southeast Missouri State University

Please pray that the Lord will use our students this semester to save many students.

Greg Xander, Truman State University

Lift up the whole campus culture with the virus. Pray that we continue to be faithful and intentional in helping share the message of Jesus to every corner of our campus

Timothy & Teresa Toolen, Maryville University:

Praise! We sold our current house (in 48 hours) and bought a new on in the same time-frame. Please pray that all of that goes well with the process of closing and moving.

Jon Smith, Missouri Southern

Pray we’d get our d-groups [discipleship groups] launched successfully this fall.

Christina Boatright, North Central Missouri College:

My aunt passed away in August. Her death was devastating for my family. My mom continues to heal from a horrible case of COVID-19 and pneumonia, while also grieving the death of her sister. Also, prayer for new students and the struggles of less students on campus this term.

Bruce Wade, Missouri S&T

Pray that we continue to be responsible and still minister.

Paul Damery, Missouri Western University:

Please pray that our student leaders and staff will be able to form solid connections with new students so that even if we have to scale back in person gatherings, discipleship plans can continue to move forward.

Joseph Ransom, Ozarks Technical Community College – Richmond

Groups will not be allowed to meet on campus for at least the first semester. We will still be able to meet in our home but our ‘on campus’ ministry will be affected. We need to find new ways to minister and make our presence known on campus.

Jon Nelson, Lincoln University

Pray for: students as they are walking into a situation in which expectations that they had will not be met in anyway; the incoming freshmen as they do not have expectations but because of the pandemic may possibly lose part of their freshman year; the ministration who in the planning over these last six months are absolutely exhausted and now have to exert themselves towards these students; us as we can be a resource guide and refuge for the faculty staff and students of Lincoln University
